Access to space fundamentally changes the equation for the human race, and the advancement of space science and technology is tangibly improving the quality of life for all humankind.

The Institute of Space Commerce is a non-partisan non-profit organization dedicated to the study of the business and economics of commercial activity in space. We aim to elevate the global discussion on space commerce to solve issues that affect the industry and society as a whole.

Through research and engagement activities, the Institute is accelerating the growth of a commercially sustainable space economy, contributing to the advancement of the space sector for the betterment of humankind, and shaping humanity’s future as a multi-planetary species.  Among our research interests are deep space exploration, space habitats, establishing a sustainable human presence on the lunar surface, space resources, space-based solar power, space tourism, space launch systems, space tugs, mission extension vehicles, in-space assembly and manufacturing, satellite operations, the growing Low Earth Orbit economy, and the use of space for agriculture, climate change, medical research, and many other aspects of life on earth.
