Kalpana Chawla and Ilan Ramon Scholarships
The Institute is also proud to be a steward of scholarships commemorating astronauts Kalpana Chawla and Ilan Ramon.
The Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Project was established to honor the memory of Indian-American astronaut Dr. Kalpana Chawla. The scholarship helps develop strong technical skills and leadership qualities of talented Indian women who are post-graduate students with backgrounds in science, engineering, and other space-related disciplines. The scholarship provides funding to attend the International Space University Space Studies Program to propel the women who share Dr. Chawla’s selfless and passionate pursuit of education and excellence in STEM fields.
The Ilan Ramon Scholarship Project was established to honor the memory of the first Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon. The scholarship provides funding for talented Israeli post-graduate students with backgrounds in science, engineering, and other space-related disciplines to attend the Space Studies Program at the International Space University. Over 80 Ilan Ramon Scholarships have been awarded over the past decade to support their professional development and allow them to continue their pursuit of knowledge on the international stage. Members of the Project’s board of advisors include astronauts Dr. Garrett Reisman and Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman.
